THIAGO PANTALEÃO.

Thiago Pantaleão Born 10/05/1997 in Vassouras, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Pantaleão was raised in Paracambi, in the metropolitan region. The son of a day laborer and a truck driver, he fell in love with music as a child, when he started singing in an evangelical church. According to the artist, his mother was his first «gospel diva», since he accompanied her singing on the church stage, along with his father, who was one of the musicians.
Still in his teens, Pantaleão identified himself as LGBTQIA+, but he was soon labeled as gay and, despite also being attracted to girls, he was not considered an option for them. According to the singer, he never had problems with the church because of his sexual orientation, but his personal acceptance was very difficult due to his more conservative upbringing and that, throughout his adolescence, he lost almost all of his friendships when he came out. LGBTQIA+. At a certain point, the young man chose to leave the institution in order to live his truth.
«I feel a lot of responsibility because anything I do will mean a lot. I also wonder how much it was worth it. Because for people like me, it’s not that easy to access. It’s not so easy to be embraced, because we still live in a very conservative country. So, achieving the things I’ve conquered is a great feeling of victory. And it carries a weight of responsibility because what I do, just like other people who were responsible for inspiring me, can inspire other people. So I’m learning to deal with the fact that people can feel represented and be careful to represent them too.»
